WHAT IS THE UnBound BIPOC/Black Women Healing Retreat?
The UnBound Black Women Retreat was inspired by Tracy’s PhD research with a Black women focus. The 5-day/4-night Retreat, Respite, and Recreation event was inspired by the fairly new research on the physiological and mental health impact on Black/Brown women bodies as a result of systemic oppression, racism, discrimination, trauma and white supremacy. The curation of this event supports Tracy’s orientation as a licensed mental health clinician and social justice proponent with the goals of decolonizing mental health through access & inclusion for all people. Tracy understands the Order of love, the necessity of working from a bottom-up perspective (subcortical) that set conditions/intentions for your system to do the work of healing. This retreat provides a balance of psychotherapy in the group format of circles/gatherings and adjacent therapeutic activities/excursions to silence the mind, the soul will speak.

Unbound BIPOC Women Healing Retreat
The Power of Ritual: Integration of Our Ancestral Ways
Rituals have been part of BIPOC culture since the beginning of time. Our ancestors worked with the elements and connected with the sun, moon, and stars to bring forth manifestation, sustainability, and healing. The Dagara Tribe in West Africa often used spiritual practices such as communing with nature and using rituals to tap into the spiritual realm. The Yoruba practices encouraged prayers, spiritual dances, and connections with deities like Oshun and Ogun. Spirituality for BIPOC people has always been about connecting with the Earth. Throughout this retreat, we will engage therapeutic nuanced practices to tap into embodiment which informs the therapeutic modalities. Spirit and our Ancestors are ever-present. We are yet but a cup of water, our ancestors are the ocean.
Body, Brain-based Somatic Healing Experience (form of therapeutic practices/modalities)

Various process groups/sessions/healing circles

Trauma - recalibrate

The retreat is located outside of the United States so that BIPOC women can connect with nature, attune, and become present within ourselves. There are healing properties we access in nature, the elements of existence. This retreat is a demonstration of mindfulness.
