Get into your-self, you are beautiful!
AS seen on YouTube

The Resident Therapist

Welcome to this space. I am a trauma informed clinician and excited to share with the public information often stigmatized, pathologized, and demonized around mental health and trauma. This is the age of healing and especially in marginalized communities. Culture is often times pathologized. Representation matters!

Send an "Ask the Resident Therapist" Letter

Requirement to be read & answered on the air

Send an "Ask the Resident Therapist" Letter!   Tracy reads and answers questions from audience, on YouTube, weekly. Here are tips to get your letter chosen, please be mindful, these are Tracy's views and perspectives and no way replaces counseling/therapy/psychotherapy/psychiatric treatment/advisement. Commentary in response to your letter is not a contract for service/client-counselor relationship/therapeutic alliance.

  1. Your letter must be focused on a question you'd like Tracy to answer as a trainer, therapist, and/or retreat leader/host. Tracy leans towards questions of interest to a large portion of the listeners/audience (such as developmental trauma, racialized trauma (all ethnicities/races included), how to be with "different than me", racial stamina, marginalization, stigma/othering, cultural humility, discrimination, challenges as a result of trauma, generational/intergenerational trauma,  dating, connecting with others, the "Angry Black Woman" stigma/trope, abandonment, living with PTSD and overcoming self-defeating behaviors).
  2. Keep it shorter than longer. Some background or context is helpful, but long letters about past hurts cannot be shared on YouTube.
  3. Please omit graphic information about violence or abuse; our staff and audience.
  4. Make sure your letter does not have identifying information about you or the people you mention (we will have your name and e-mail address, but will never include that in videos).
  5. Please give written consent for your letter to be read and answered on YouTube, by including this statement In your e-mail, “Tracy Gantlin-Monroy, LPC has my permission to read my letter and respond to it on her YouTube channel, and in other media connected to The Resident Therapist.” (Then type your full name.) Providing this consent means that Tracy may use your letter (or portions of the video where she answers it) not only on YouTube, but potentially on her blog, podcast, website and e-mails, as well on sharing platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, twitter and medias to come.
